Can You Microwave a Lobster?

If you’re a seafood lover, you’ve probably wondered if it’s possible to microwave a lobster.

The simple answer is yes – and it’s relatively easy! You only need a few simple ingredients and about 10 minutes of your time.

Keep reading for instructions on how to make this delicious dish.

Why Should You Cook Lobster In The Microwave?

It’s simple and practical! Lobster is versatile seafood that can be cooked in a variety of ways. One option is to microwave it.

Microwaving lobster is a quick and easy way to cook seafood without a lot of prep or cleanup. This cooking method helps to extract the natural sweetness and flavor of the lobster.

Additionally, it prevents the lobster from drying out. This method requires no cleanup; when the lobster is cooked, you toss the bag, and you are all set to enjoy your lobster dinner.

How To Cook A Lobster In the Microwave

Microwaving lobster is a fast, simple way to cook this delicious crustacean.

To begin with, you will need to “terminate” the lobster or use correctly thawed lobster tails. It’s best to do this before you cook the lobster for the best texture.

Also, to make sure the lobsters are cooked properly, we recommend you only microwave one lobster or two tails at a time.

  • The best way to cook lobster tails in the microwave is to split them in half lengthwise down the center of the tail using a large, sharp knife and pull the meat out on top of the shell. This will help to ensure even cooking.
  • Place the lobster tails, cut side up, in a microwave-safe plastic bag and add approximately 1/4 cup of water along with any aromatics you desire.
  • Cook on high power for two minutes per ounce of lobster and cook on the highest setting. (For example, a one-pound lobster would need to cook for four minutes.)
  • Let the cooked lobster sit for one minute before carefully removing the plastic bag. The lobster meat will be very hot, so be careful not to burn yourself.

The same steps will ensue for a whole lobster; you only need to adjust your time.

Now that you know it’s easy and doable…go ahead and enjoy your delicious microwaved lobster!
